Well, if we thought November and December were brilliant to top off and end 2017, the start of 2018 has been nothing short of truely memorable!
Solid storms started us off, just deep, light and magical through lower Salzburg. Then we had a brief warm patch, which made conditions extremely tricky to judge as directly following that, temperatures plumeted again and a solid five days of snow. Avalanches inside resort boundries were a real danger.
Shooting with Sebastian Faerber in Zauchensee, in my secret stash was extremely fragile. riding into it I started a slide, 30metres either side of me immediately let go. Thankfully it didn't take me with it as there was only about 6 inches on top that slid.
On one area, we had set up in and I was walking around and could see small fractures appearing, however, It was relatively flat so I wasn't concerned that i could be in danger. However, once Sebastian came through and threw up a monster face shot, he triggered the whole section, it let go, releasing from its grip on the underlying layer and narrowly missing myself and my strobe.
Thankfully we both came away un-scathed and with a bunch of amazing images.
